Aalborg Karneval
The largest carnival parade of Northern Europe, will go through the streets of Aalborg. Come and celebrate the carnival of Aalborg between 15 and 23 May.

Regatta
The city’s fantastic, beautiful, newly renovated harbour front will frame ”Regatta in Aalborg”. It is a maritime event for the whole family. In three days you can experience musical entertainment, the fun of the fair, many water activities, a play centre for children and culinary experiences.
Aalborg Regatta takes place between the 20st and 22rd of June at Aalborg's Waterfront.

Viking market
in the last weekend of June, Lindholm Høje museum hosts their annual viking market with lots of exciting activities and not least beautiful craft work. Old handicrafts are exerted and shown. At the market you can experience how wool yarn is used to weave or tie beautiful bands and warm socks. The leather smith processes skin and leather for scabbards, wallets or shoes and the tradition of tying straw is displayed. Bows and arrows will be there to create a real viking's atmosphere.

Den Blå Festival
From 12 to 16 August the Blues festival is organised in Aalborg. The Blue Festival, also called the “Mini New Orleans Festival”, is a jazz and blues festival, that four days every year makes Aalborg buzz of swinging music and a great atmosphere. The Blue Festival is one of the biggest genre festivals in Denmark, where both Danish and international jazz and blues artists perform.Several music venues, open squares, pubs and cafés in Aalborg ensure the perfect frames for an authentic jazz and blues experience for all music lovers at all ages, and some of the restaurants even offer favorable prices on food and beverages. There is free entrance to most of the concerts.

By the vikings it was originally used as a trading center, because of its convenient location. Now you can find a large Vikinggraveyard cloose to Aalborg, which is worth a visit.
In Aalborg you can also enjoy shopping, or visit the zoo.

Bundgårdsparken is a park with many opportunities. You will find a petanque field, fireplace, work-out area, nature playground, amphitheatre and much more. You can play golf for free at Aalborg Disc Golf Lance with 18 curves – as long as the Dinosaurs Aalborg Disc golf doesn’t play.
You will moreover find figures from H.C. Andersen’s fairytales different places in the park.

Only in Aalborg you can find a complete exhibition over the defense of Denmark. In the defense and garrison museum you can find cars, airplanes, motorcycles and tanks, of which most of them can be entered. The city of Aalborg houses a garrison since 1779. This garrison was the largest during WWII and the Cold War.
The museum gives the entire family the opportunity to visit the weapons and machnines used by the military forces for the defense of Denmark during WWII.

Lindholm Høje
Because of its convenient location, Aalborg is originally a city that was used as a trading center by the Vikings. Therefore there is a large viking burial site close to the city, which is worth a visit.
Lindholm Høje is a burial site out of the Iron Age and Viking Age, which is just north of Aalborg and Nørresundby, located on the southern slope of Voerbjerg Hill opposite to the Limfjord. Lindholm Høje was used as a burial site between 400 AD and 1000 AD. The 700 graves were excavated between 1952 and 1958.

Aalborghus slot was built for the local governor by King Christian III between 1539-1555. It was equipped with a large storage for taxes which were paid in kind. The castle was built as a fortress, but later it turned out that it was useless as a fortress.
It is not possible to visit Aalborghus slot itself, but you can freely enter the courtyard and gardens.Furthermore you can also visit the casemates and dungeons in the summer months.
